|Legend Behind Our Company Name:
In 1927, Dr. Lucis Morse, the developer of this beautiful area, flooded the valley of Hickory Nut Gorge to make what is today Lake Lure. In doing so he left a small town at the bottom of the lake, leaving a few buildings, a church and some cars. The name of this town was Buffalo, NC. The town name came from the homesteaders who lived in the valley, they would look up at the mountains and the first mountain range they saw was that in the shape of a buffalo.
So when you come to Lake Lure make sure you get either Kaye or Tracy to take you to the middle of the lake then look West, you will see the Buffalo and The Lady of the Lake.
Then you will understand why the North end of the Lake have streets named, Buffalo Creek Road and Buffalo Shoals, a Community named Tatanka and a Plaza called Buffalo Junction.
Better yet…….Meet us at the Junction and tell us.
And guess what? Our office is on Buffalo Creek Road located in Buffalo Junction Plaza.
And there you have it the legend behind our name.
We like it because it fits the neighborhood, so tell us what you think.
